September 26-October 9, 2019
Join us in Ecuador for an amazing hummingbird and nature experience. We will stay at lodges on both the east and west sides of the Andes, where we'll photograph a wide array of hummingbirds while staying in elegant and comfortable accommodations with all meals provided. We'll also visit several other bird photo hotspots.
The most hummingbirds of any trip!
Special offer for bird and nature lovers: $1,600 Discount for non-participant spouse or guest (limited only in not using the multiple flash equipment).
On our previous trips to Ecuador, we photographed over thirty hummingbird species at these lodges. The diversity and spectacular appearance of Ecuador's "shining jewels" is amazing. Highlights include:
- Booted Racket-tail, a delicate hummingbird with two long racket tails and white puffs on its legs.
- Sword-billed Hummingbird, with a bill longer than its body.
- Long-tailed Sylph, a gorgeous bird with a long shimmering tail.
- and many more, which you can see in our Ecuador Gallery.
We supply all the flash equipment for our hummingbird workshops. You simply need to bring your camera, lens, and tripod.
Ecuador has almost 1,600 bird species, including over 150 species of hummingbirds. For the first half of our trip, we stay at Tandayapa Bird Lodge in the Mindo region, in the Pacific highlands, a famous hotspot for hummingbirds. Then we cross the Andes on a new highway to recently-built Guango Lodge, high in the Amazon basin, another fantastic location for hummers.
We provide all lodging, meals and transport from your arrival in Quito, including hotel accommodations in Quito at the beginning and end of the trip. Our lodges offer delicious meals and abundant hospitality. You can photograph hummingbirds literally right outside the door. Day trips to other hotspots offer even more species to photograph.
We provide flashes and lightstands for those who need them, and expert guidance. Temperatures are cool and pleasant in the highlands. Come prepared for the hummingbird photography experience of a lifetime!
