Carunculated Caracaras are frequently found on the high, wind-swept páramo surrounding Antisana Volcano. At 13,000 feet above sea level, this treeless landscape is lush from the frequent mists and rains.
These birds of prey, with their sharp and powerful talons, are opportunistic hunters and scavengers.
