Comet C/2023 A3 (Tsuchinshan-ATLAS) over Mt. Whitney and the Eastern Sierra Nevada.

Several days past Full Moon, the rising Moon produced faint alpenglow on the high peaks of the Eastern Sierra that is captured in the long exposure, two minutes after moonrise. The Alabama Hills are silhouetted in the foreground.

Distant Mt. Whitney is the last peak visible at far right; it is the highest point in the United States outside Alaska at 14,505'. Lone Pine Peak (12,949') is the prominent peak at left that dominates the skyline from the Alabama Hills. It appears taller because it is much closer then Whitney.
