Karl and Jan navigate through mounds of giant Tussock Grass on West Point Island in the Falklands.

Tussock is an important habitat for penguins and albatross, providing shelter from the wind and ideal soil for nesting burrows. Vulnerable to grazing by introduced sheep, here it is fenced off and thrives. protected.

Out of the frame, a large breeding colony of Black-browed Albatross and Rockhopper Penguins is situated here, making it well worth the hike.
