Coronets are some of the most aggressive hummingbirds and will fiercely defend their food sources.
These two Buff-tailed Coronets wrestled each other to the ground, their feet and bills locked together in an intense struggle as their wings collided. I grabbed my camera and fired off a series of shots before it was over.
I'm not sure who won, but they both flew away. And repeated this fight a couple more times. This is a tight crop of their heads.
